Which Test Kit?

i dont know what test kit to buy. either the nutrafin hagen master test kit or the API master test kit? which one is best? all advice would be greatley appreciated befor i spend my hard earnt money lol thanks

API master test kit is generally considered better than the nutrafin one.

My Nutrafin Master Kit has an awful nitrate test, with colours that often are much brighter than the results cchart comparison, but perhaps I'm not doing a long enough cocktail dance with the bottles (especially #2)...

API master test kit. I was just asking this same question about a week and a half ago. I got the API master test kit for only around $30 but if it can test up to 800 times estimating then the price is WELL worth it. I love it. Much better than the dip strips I once used. And cheaper!

api is better, but it is a LOT of money. my lfs had one for like 50 bucks.

I've recently bought a sera test kit and found this excellent - the colour charts are spot-on matches to the test tube colours meaning there's no ambiguity about the results. It was a master kit for planted tanks and so set us back around £80 but I think you can but these tests separately. I personally think this was worth every penny!

It was an enormous kit in a case with loads of test tubes and stuff - you can get smaller kits or individual tests I believe though.

The API test kits are pretty expensive but will last you for a decent amount of time. A positive to it, is that you can stock up on individual tests eg. Ammonia without the need to buy the whole thing again. I also buy my test kits from eBay as they are cheaper than most LFS's.

I don't mind paying that little bit extra for quality so I trust all your advice. I don't know what I would do without this forum. Much better than any book ... And it's free!
