So i just received this new tank, as i already have one running now. This tank is 26 gallons tall, I have had it running for a little over a week now with several live plants. I am currently struggling on which fish to get because every website tells me something different, i want a community tank.
I know that i will start out with 6 or 7 Zebra Danios, and i am debating whether to get Platys, Mollies, or Swordtails, and eventually some corys.
I want a peaceful yet active aqaurium, do these fish get along, which ones should i put in or leave out, and if so how many?

Thank You so much!

Firstly, before you add fish you'll want to get the water checked to make sure that no levels of ammonia and nitrIte aren't too high, as this could kill the fish.
The 6 or 7 danios are there to cycle the tank as they are hardy fish. Most livebearers (Platies, Mollies, Swords, Guppies) are all community fish meaning that they'll all live together okay. As long as you don't mix fin nippers (eg. Penguin Tetras) with long finned fish (eg. Sailfin Mollies) you should be fine. Cories will need to go in after 6 - 8 weeks as this allows the tank to mature.
With regards to the 26 gallon tank I don't know how many would fit in there, but depending on how many you get add them slowly, over weeks not days.

No fish should be added to a new tank. Chemistry will always test good before there is any fish load, so that part is meaningless with an uncycled tank that has no fish. We try to promote a fishless cycle here on TFF. It allows you to get the filter ready for fish without the need to do frequent huge water changes just to let your fish survive the process. I have a link in my signature area to fishless cycling.

Once you have a cycled tank, that 6 to 8 weeks is more or less typical, the zebras would be a good first choice and platies will work well with them. I would wait a while before adding any cories. Swordtails and mollies can be difficult for inexperienced fish keepers although they are often fairly easy to care for.

i have mollies, platys, leopard danios and cory cats all in the same tank and they dont seem to bother each other.
