well, since you guys were so helpful identifying my magadascan rainbow, i've got another couple fishies for you here.
i've owned this guy for 4 months. the store i bought him from (pet supermarket i think?) didnt have him labeled, and every other store i've seen him at also haven't had him labeled!.
i believe him to be a Honey Sunset Gourami? he is dwarf, smaller than the dwarf gouramis i've had in the past (2x Powder Blue, 2 or 3 regular Dwarfs, 2x Flame dwarfs) but he is definetively one of them as he behaves similarly. however, while my dwarfs would fight one another, none of my 6 or 7 past dwarfs ever attacked him
so what exactly is he?

and then i found these guys at another PS...i instantly fell in love with them and got two. here's what they looked like when i bought them:

at first i thought they were color morphs of the one above, but then i noticed that they have the white line under their faces going to the fins...and now they're getting to look like this:

so i'm starting to think they were immature Honey Dwarfs?

i mentioned before the dwarf gouramis wouldn't fight with these. that's true, but these guys fight amongst themselves just like the other dwarfs would fight. so much so, that i watched one of the yellow guys fight another red one (not the one picture, second one i got to keep company) and in the morning the following day that red one was dead with a hole on the stomach....

NOTE: please dont tell me they are: "Dwarf Gourami", "Powder Blue Dwarf Gourami", "Neon Blue Dwarf Gourami", "Flame/Red Sunset Gourami" or any of the regular Trichogaster gouramis. it was the most disappointing moment when the staff from www.liveaquaria.com wrote back to me saying the picture I had sent them was of a "powder blue dwarf gourami", and to prove it, they gave me a link to a flame gourami on another website....

thanks for the help! :good:

i would say these were both collisa chuna the yellow ones are honey gouramis, and the first one sometimes known as a red robin gourami, it is a different coulour morph of collisa chuna.

sometimes the honey gouramis develop a blue under their chin etc when wanting to breed these are all males.

I'd say rocknur is absolutely spoton.

Yeah they are all colour morphs.

that's why i like this forum so much...you guys are so helpful :good:

so they're all colisa chuna, which I thought!
unfortunately these yellow guys are mean! i just found my red one (which i've had since february  ) dead after another fight i guess. so i went from having 2 red, to have 2 red and 2 yellow, and now i have only the 2 yellows left
they're beautiful, but damn why the aggression to the other ones

the red ones are sometimes called paprika honeys because of the color, which fades as the mature, hormone in food to intensify the rednes.

the second ones are called dwarf sunset honeys
my fave after pearls.

i have a group of 7 female sunsets and 3 male sunsets.
then 2 pairs of dwarf honey gouramis.
then 2 pairs of powder blue
and flame and cobalt.
