i have a 680 litre tank with 1 ehiem 2213 filter and 1 fluval 303 external filter, they really aint enough to cope with all the water so i am looking to upgrade to just 1 filter which will be big enough to give me ample filteration, i have a low budget  , so what external filter do you recomend?

i know people will have their faves, however i swear by the fx5. you can pick them up nowadays for around £89, which is unreal given their filtering power. this is not a tinky toy filter, this is a big boy that will do its job...and then some!

i have used them since they first came out, i have told friends about them, who subsequently bought them too, and none of us have had any issues whatsoever.

what a filter!

but not quite as solidly built as a pro 3. I have personally used a fx5, eheim pro 3 2080, and eheim pro 3e 2078.

THe fx5 is just not as good as the eheim. after all, look at the reputation of eheim and compare it to FLuvals! have a read of this:

Eheim wins hands down. After all, its up to you, the fx5 is a cheap budgret filter, whereas with Eheim you are paying for quality.

I would get a pro 3 e 2078 and run it with your 2213.

Hope that helped,
Adam
