Fish Fanatic
Seriously, about big fish outgrowing tanks....my old roommate once bought an oscar and housed it in a 20 gallon, with every intention of getting it a bigger tank later. Then her company downsized, she lost her job, had to take one that payed less, ran out of money, etc. and never had the money to upgrade the tank. Good intentions....sometimes things happen. The lfs store took the oscar back and that was that.
Again no excuse.I have got a 20(uk gallon) tank.bought fish that would suit the size,I bought a 50(uk gallon) and purchased fish that would be happy and have loads of room.I am now in the final stages of my 410(Uk gallon)tank and i still wouldnt dream of keeping these fish.
What i am trying to say is buy fish that suits the aquarium not buy fish that you will be buying new tanks for...as you said in your post you cant control the future.Be happy with what you got and get the bigger tank then get the bigger fish.
