Whats Your Background?

This is going to sound really stupid, but if you like a black background......... bin liners!!! I have done it to one of my tanks, I would put a piccy up but the camera battery is dead! Basically I wanted to darken my hospital tank so I shoved a bin liner behind it, its got crunched up and looks almost like a 3d rock background. Plus being plastic it wont get watermarked.

I have done similar with one of my big tanks using a cheap tablecloth (one of those thin plastic wipe down ones) it only cost 99p to do a 4ft tank.

mine is a sky blue background

its not the best pic im affraid mate it looks darker than it is

I have a 3d background in my 60litre as the water marks at the back were too hard to get rid of as the tank was next to the wall, however i wouldnt suggest it, i belive it takes up too much room, i strongly advise spray painting the back of the tank a nice matt black, i have done this and it looks brilliant, there is no colour better than black for this purpose IMO however if you cant paint the back i would suggest a black film from aqua essentials: http://www.aquaessentials.co.uk/index.php?...roducts_id=1169
it even has blue if you fancy a change, you use olive oil and a credit card to smooth it on and to make sure there are no bubbles, plus this way there is no tape :good:

thanks

nah, its not an essential part of the hobby if you are going to do that then you will have to have one on all types of decor, plastic plants, different types of rocks, substrates, wood, ahhh it would take forever, its just personal choice really.

Have you thought about making a moss wall as a background? They take a while to grow through the mesh but well worth it when you see the final result. There are posts on this forum about how to make them, in the DIY section

Dont know if ive missed something here, but why not paint it? You want to use matt-emulsion paint. It will just scrape off if you change your mind.

if your going for a paper background get seaview it helps you to see the background far claerly and will help your background stick out in the light

I dont really want to strip my tank down to paint it, otherwise that would be my best option.
