Spotted and removed a few tiny snails which must have hitched in on plants. All clear for a few days until i spotted this fella just now. I was surprised with how quick it can move.

Sorry for the crap pic, taken on a cheapo point n shoot.

Should i remove him ? and are there going to be more ?

Thanks

Looks like a tadpole snail Physa spp.

They are classed as a 'pest snail' and do breed quite quickly.

You should probably take it out, but there'll almost certainly be more.

Looks like a common pond/tadpole snail, probably got in on a plant. I would remove it, they breed like crazy and will cover your tank in a few weeks. However if you keep their numbers in control they are effective algae eaters. I keep them in my piranha tank with assassin snails for that purpose.

Yup pond snails!!

I found 2 in my tank on first day after putting live plants in, now got about 20!! lol

But i don't really mind them as doing Fishless cycle at moment and they cleaning a bit of algae so i plan to get some assassin snails so that will help keep these pond snails under control.

I had/have these. Pond snails. Just like you, I had none, then I had loads. Probably around 100 at their peak until I put 3 assassins in. Didn't make much difference at first but I reduced my feeding (no excess food for the snails), removed any I could get easily and once the Assasins bred, they anialated the pond snails within a couple of months. It took a while because they reproduce fast.

Assassins bread vey slow. I've got maybe 20 now from the original 3. You can also sell them once you get too many.

David.
