A guy at my LFS sold a man 5 oscars that were about 5-6 inches long. The guy that was buying them said he was putting them in a 10G tank. I stepped in and said there was no way you can keep any oscars in a 10G never mind 5. The LFS dude overruled me and told the guy they would be fine. I left. Petsmart

I went to a new LFS the other day and was looking at the plecs with a view to getting one or two for my 56g.
He had some L047 and some L014 that caught my eye. When I asked him about them he told me that they only grow to about 5" so I could have 3 or 4 in my tank (they both grow to 10" - 12").
To his credit he did ask the size of my tank but then when I told him it was a 56g he 'advised' me to get another 3 clown loaches (to go with my existing 3), a shoal of 10 corys, 10 discus, another 20 tetras, an L014 and an L047

Now I already have 22 tetras & 3 clown loaches in there so his suggestions were a little excessive!

I make little stickers that I stick on the tanks at our dumbest LFS when no-one is looking

"This fish can grow to four feet long" (On an MBU tank)

"These fish have been dipped in coloured dyes" (On dyed parrot tanks)

"This fish will kill and eat other fish" (On a Dragon Puffer tank)

"The fish in this tank are suffering from a fungal disease" (on a tank full of white furry clown loach)

The stickers usually last about a week before the boss notices and has them removed.

That is about the BEST idea I've heard in a long time and you should post it in reply to the campaign about dyed fish.

this wasn't from an lfs guy but it was from someone in a lfs buying fish

i was behind him in line and he just bought a few chiclids of some kind, and when i got behind him i asked him what he bought and he said "chiclids" i left it at that because i had a feeling he didnt know what he bought himself but i felt like saying "well that narrows it down" lol
