Lol just wondering!

Mine was at rainforest spectrum! they have his employee and I saw lots of fry in they're tanks which are all at least 10g big and I was like what kinda fry are those?? he was like: oh they're cichlid fry! me: what kind? him: cichlid :shifty: ! Then we moved on to the daddy and mommy! what kinda cichlid are they?: they're livebearers! they keep the babies in their mouths and they come out alive! ! Then, I told him those were called mouthbrooders but he was was like no they're cichlids. (btw i was like  ) THEN, we moved on to the guppeis and i was liek who old are tehy? he was like: They're adult guppies me: Oh... what kinda guppies are they? him: They're guppies... So I stared at him stupidly and I asked him about the female bettas! I asked, do you have any blue ones? he was like Sorry... we only have female bettas in this tank, the males are over there! so I was like do you have any mustard gas ones? he was like oh iunno... we dont have that kind of medicine by this time i was stupidly staring at him like >.<"

LOLOLOL That's hilarious! Even in my several years of fishkeeping I've never heard an LFS dude say something that blatantly stupid. Mustard gas... medecine...    Well at least he new what type of fish they were. The guy at the LFS I went to today didn't know a thing. He let me buy a Discus and a clown loach without asking me if my tank was cycled yet or how big it was. And when I asked him for some java fern and amazon sword, he's like "can you point out which ones you want?" :p

when i first started out fishkeeping, the guy at the lfs told me i need to take the fish out once in a while and scrub them with a scrub brush and soapy water.

Poor lil fishies!

I have never run into anyone with no knowledge of fish, just some who need to start using cod liver oil! :D J/K

:D :p

:fun: Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Erm.... the stupidest thing....erm there isn't one I don't think apart from yesterday I asked for the name of these fish I liked there called Panda Dwarf Cichlids so I could do some research on them and the stupid idiot spelt the name wrong and before you say was it hard to spell it was but he went and checked it on the tank name. So when I got back and searched in Google for it said found no matches you could try and it came up with the right spelling.

Surely the dumbest thing they all say (with the exception of the lfs's that know about fish) is "can I help you".............lol

The most dumbest any lfs person every told me was throught this conversation:

Me: Why do you keep female Siamese Fighting Fish in seperate containers? They can go together with those fish *pointing to some cories and tetras*
LFS Guy: That a male Betta and they can't ever be kept with any type of fish.
Me: ...uh...That's a female betta... You can tell by it's fins...
LFS Guy: No that's a male betta, female bettas don't exist.
Me: ...If female bettas don't exist then how do the male repoduce?
LFS Guy: ...um... The male always carries eggs which he lays in a bubble nest that hatch.
Me: ...yeah...ok...

He must have been so dum... female bettas don't exist :grr:

Wow. I think that story takes the cake. The others are bad, too, but wow - saying that a female of a species doesn't exist... Guess he slept through biology, sex-ed, and anything that remotely mentions reproduction, eh?  I told my husband that story and he got quite a laugh out of it too :)

I can't think of any incredibly stupid thing I've heard LFS people say. The guy who works at my LFS knows his stuff - fish and plants alike

 it is pretty funny... in a silly way.

I usually go to my favourite lfs to get all the items I need, but because that lfs is quite far away I go to a few closer ones. I still can't believe he said that

I asked my local if they had any frozen baby brine shrimp as I needed them quick for my baby Discus.

The girl asked what fish they were for so I said baby Discus.

She then replied "Are they livebearers, we sell liquifry"

GOD NO :fun:

femal Bettas don't exist  Muppets

A few years ago my girlfriend and son were at a fish store when they spotted a ornate bichir in one of the tanks, knowing that it was a fish i'd been looking out for they called a store worker over to ask how much it was. He came over and they asked how much for the Polypterus ornatapinnis to which he gave a blank look and asked them to point the fish out, so Joe (our son who was then 4) points out the fish and says "that one" to which the store worker laughs and says "oh sorry, thats not a fish, its a newt and they are £15". Joe then says "no thats a Polypterus, i know it is because my dad has some in his tank" and another couple in the shop start laughing and watching whats gong on, so the guy says again "no sorry they are deffinately newts, we had quite a few in and thats the last one" so then my GF steps in and says "sorry i think your mistaken, do you have a refference book here" which apperently they didnt. So the GF goes and gets a book from the shelf, opens it to the right page and shows the store worker the fish, apperntly he turned the brightest shade of red anyone has ever seen, my GF thought he was going to explode  Anyway they bought the fish for the bargain £15 and brought it home as a nice suprise for me when i got in from work, i still have the fish and it is now a good 18" long! I just wonder what happened to all the others that innocent people bought thinking that they were nice community friendly newts which then grew into foot and half long predatory monsters within a couple of years
