What Type Of Betta Is He

Ok so about a week maybe a little longer ago I was asking about if bettas could be with guppy fry. I was really happy finding out that they could although never expected to get one anytime soon since I lost one a few weeks ago. But then I was going to the store to get a moss ball for the tank and I passed by him flaring at me circling around in the cup.

I walked up to him and he calmed down but still kept circling and darting about. But then I took a step back and he would flar up again! Long story short him and I bonded less than a second of seeing eachother.. But on a couple different forums I have read about there being different breeds of bettas and was wondering what Spear is.

Heres a couple pictures just so you can see him maybe identify exactly what he is?

He's still shy since it's only been 3 hours in his new home so they arent the best pics but he's coming around

Looks like a Halfmoon but I could be wrong since I am not as experience as some here on bettas

I just know hes not a crowntail. His tail was different from all the other bettas at the store.. when they flare their fins touch his dont exactly. But maybe thats because he's still young?

he is not a crowntail forsure. looks like a half-half moon. if thats possible lol. looks like its becomming a halfmoon. almost looks like a delta.
nice looking fish.

Thank you his tail made me think of a spear so I felt it would fit him best. Maybe he is a half moon but since he is still a bit young it hasent grown all the way out yet?

Sweet! Thanks for helping me find out. I fell in love with him the second I saw him and even more now that I got him home in his own nice 10 gallon tank. Although he doesnt seem to like my chair much he flairs every time he sees it haha

hes a young VT...his tail will get less and less "spade like" as he grows. Lovely fish!
