Right now i have a 6-7 inch oscar which i got with a fish tank that i bought. It turns out that oscars will outgrow 55 gallons and i don't think that i will be able to keep him or tank mates even. So i was thinking about selling my oscar (which i named Oscar..) but i have gotten a little attached to him. I started to feed him from my hand and such. But i want what is best for him so what should i do and is there any cool fish that i could get if i sold Oscar?

There are plenty of 'cool' fish you could get that would be happy in a 55G tank. But non of the smaller fish really have the character or confidence of an Oscar and will generally be more skittish and not as forth coming. This is why Oscars are so often chosen to have as a 'wet pet'

You could look for something like a Thorichthys Ellioti or Meeki, they reach about 7" TL and are very colourful. Others include Salvini's, Rainbows, Blue Acara's etc etc etc. The list really is endless.

Other option would be to source a bigger tank. Some say 4x2x2 but my little one will be going into a 5x2x2.

Good luck :)
