Hey there!

I'm only 20 but I've done a lot of travelling around the world due to circumstances involving my father. I've been to various countries but as this board is full of members from various nations I thought it would be interesting to find out what people have found to be the weirdest or oddest place they've been to for whatever reason. Perhaps if you want the favourite.

Remember it doesn't even have to be abroad, one of my favourite places out of everywhere I've been is literally only a secluded spot a mile away from my home.

So I'll start,

The oddest place and buildup will probably have been a town called Kikinda, Serbia. We had illegally hired a taxi driver for 50 euros to take us across the border as our car insurance didn't cover for Serbia. The car was a Opel Kadett which didn't even having seats that fit properly, the seatbelts were so dusty but the clips were polished brand new like never been used before! The car had gone round the clock twice and I asked the driver when he bought it, apparently it only it got it last week! The driver insisted it was a lovely place but each house we went past there was varying security more and more shutters until houses were a complete blackout yet there were BMW X5s etc sitting on the driveways. Apparently it was a predominately mafia ruled area, then we crossed a bridge which apparently had nearly fallen down last year but they decided it was safe for some reason! The car was in such bad condition that when the driver stopped to get out and buy cigarettes he didn't even have to apply the handbrake on a hill, he got out in neutral and walked out to the shop, it was very steep :|

Arrived at the town we were going to and went for a beer, first thing I noticed on receiving some change from the barman was the fact the face on the money actually looked like Osama Bin Laden, I was gob smacked. However the people were fantastic, everyone welcomed you with 3 kisses and because I was British I was told I spoke like a BBC news presenter, they always talked and acted as if we were somewhat like brothers from another nation. It was a fantastic experience, I didn't feel safe at all in the area but the people made the place fantastic. I quickly found out the main diet and what appears to be the only diet was meat, pure meat and beer... my kind of place.

How has your most memorable trip/experience been?

Hmm.. I'm from the US. I've visted over half of the states & have spent a year in Norway. In Norway we dog sledded, sailed in the fjords etc.

I guess my interesting experience happened when I was in Norway. I was 18 at the time and we (a distant relative) and I stumbled upon a nude beach :hyper: . It was 'normal' for her, but not for me!

a place called Neston in north west england. There are rumoured to be people there with three eyes etc as they like to spend a lot of time with each other from the village rather than strangers. I bought some beers from a tesco there and I was looked upon as a total stranger as I was not from community.

Nudest beach in Norway!!! It's like scotland for weather isn't it :hyper:, if not worse!? The mere fact you were dog sledding in the same country! The meat and veg would definitely shrink up on that beach!

They could sense you were not from the community because you're not part of the family, I guess the whole inbred thing is pretty widespread and well known then haha.

They can use computers?

I live in Irby, so really just around the corner from you. It's funny that you mentioned that they looked at you oddly though. In Waterworld where I use to work I would usually give one of the guys at work a lift back to Neston on the way home and I'd often stop off at the off licence and every time my colleague walked in everyone recognised him and were shaking hands etc... then they would just glare at me as if I was some sort of outsider trying to muscle in on their family meeting.

lol @ simonas
I agree neston is a very local place (for those that have watched the league of gentleman)

regards :)

How well known is the whole Neston are you know *nudge nudge* those type of people? I mean I thought it was just a local thing on the Wirral but if it goes as far as Chester

Strangest places Ive been would have been when I was in China, we went to a province called Shanxi for one night and the hotel was just mad. It was about 12-15 stories high no lift and surrounded by proper factories, the rooms were on coridoors of eight and the door at the end locked. We were asked if we wanted hookers as we checked in or roughly what it translated too then we saw the rooms not great lol the girls I was with were terrified and one of my friends had to share with two guys from Krygistan (spelling) I later played cards with these two as one of them explained why his knife was particularly good for fighting with! We also learned that when you die in Krygistan they kill your horse and eat it same for your 50th wedding anniversary.... Through the two days we stayed in that area one of my friends was offered a fifteen year old girl as his wife from her father because they said he looked like Beckham  we also saw a girl who could spin tables and bells with her feet.... for once we were not the only white people for a good few hundred miles and an american guy got put in this giant bell which she then span around on her feet again  if he was not there on the front row it would have been one of us :p

Without a doubt one of the best times of my life ever!

The other funny part of that trip was when we went to Shoulin Temple and we got more attention than the performers

There are other stories but Ill save them for an other time haha
