What Next?

yes its the snowflake moray,,,, and rosies,,, i dunno bigger than guppies smaller than gold fish FEEDER FISH what are u trying to get me to say? ur being very rude.... for a simple question i asked.

I think we are all trying to figure out what you have. I believe you have rosey barbs (posted a link for you to look at the picture about). Now, I don't know much about snowflake eels, but aren't they saltwater? And it looks like they can get quite large too - up to 3 feet.

But your first issue is getting him in the right environment.

no this is a marine fish and there is no where i can see where you would find it stated otherwise!

and you stated you have don TONS AND TONS of research well i would love to know were????

you have different types of fish which are not suitable for this aquarium due to size, conditions, types.
this is mad!!!

a rosie what?
IS IT THE SNOWFLAKE MORAY EEL YOU HAVE?

A rosie red. They are a color variation of the fathead minnow.

Despite their common name, "freshwater" morays are brackish. They need marine salt, not table salt. Your species (if it what I think it is) will grow up to 2 feet and will eat any bite size fishy. Obviously, a 2 foot fish will not fit in your tank.

Be careful when housing the oscars together, even in their next home. One may kill the other.

Depending on what kind of pleco you have, it too may outgrow your tank.

What kind of fish will you have in this tank? What you should spend your $100 on will depend on what fish you will have.

And everybody, PLEASE STOP TYPING IN CAPS SO MUCH IT IS VERY ANNOYING!

Ryan

EDIT: Jeez, there were 10 posts from when I started typing this to when I posted!

look on websites,,,,, they all say a 30g is required....... ive done a lot of looking,,, since ur some expert prove me wrong... it isnt one of the TRUE SALTWATER SNOWFLAKES IF U LOOK ON GOOGLE IMAGES, its the freshwater one look it up before u start complaining on here like ur some master.

and no they arent rosy barbs...

Hmmmm, not rosy barbs? Do you have pics? Now I am curious myself.

And in doing a bit of looking myself - I found this article. You might want to give it a read.
http://saltaquarium.about.com/cs/eelprofil.../a/aa082901.htm

Particularly:
"This question arises because people see an Eel labeled as a "Freshwater Snowflake Moray" in a fish store, and because of the "Snowflake Moray" name they assume it is a true saltwater Snowflake Moray Eel acclimated to live in freshwater. Quite simply the answer to this question is NO, you cannot put a true saltwater Moray Eel of any kind into fresh or brackish water and expect it to live. "

Now, please don't get so defensive. I myself received some bad information and proceeded to by a common pleco for a 10 gallon tank. We all make mistakes and everyone is just trying to help you.

Actually, I think the first thing you should buy is a decent stand that actually fits the tank. The tank is hanging over the edges of whatever it's on now.

Ryan

sorry its a pic off of my phone but the general look,,,

basically you need a new stand.

you need to get rid of eel oscars and plec(if its common)
as these are no where near suitable for this size of aquarium!

i get him eating the last 2 days.... quite cool to watch....

I saw one in a marine tank in my LFS, he was in a cave hole thing in the live rock and when the shopkeep would feed him he slithere out stuck his head out of the water, took the prawn/meat or w/e and slithered back in his cave. it was really really cool...:P

lol everyone take some chillli pillies!

he said he was going to upgrade for the oscars as they grow.

I dont know anything about eels or plec's apart from the plec's grow big so i cant comment :P

Yep, thats a brackish species of moray eel. I forget the latin name at the moment, but a common name is snowflake moray. It will definitely outgrow your tank.

Pics of the pleco would help id him too.

Ryan

EDIT: The latin name for the moray is Gymnothorax tile.

Where in Illinois? Yeah, they are called just plain rosies. As stated above, their a variation of a fat head minnow. Did you cycle your tank? I would highly recommend riding of your oscars and eel as your tank is over stocked. The deal with oscars is, they create a massive bio-load. Whihc is why they demand such a large tank. I would just either get some dwarf cichlids or go with livebearers. angelfish, and tetra's. Im guessing you have a common Pleco right? They are like 6 dollars? They will grow way top big for your tank! What fish store did you get them from? Yes, and please stop talking in caps as it's annoying. And, tehauthority: The reason they were not exaclty nice is becasue you didnt state exactly what kind of eel it was, and 99% of eels need salt. Most are Saltwaer, not even brackish. Aquarium salt is just rock salt, adn that isnt what you'll find in the ocean( from what im aware of).

lol that thing is so sturdy its probably better than the one u bought at walmart.... seriously ..... i ask one question and u go crazy... screw this forum
