Yes they do that to sell you fish, the vast majority of petshops have no interest in your fish's happyness but only your money- i would start to rehome some of your unsuitable fish, sorry to be a bummer.

Take them back to the lfs, just give them a ring to arrange it, good luck.

mmm tricky actually with CAE's - it's not something that shops are generally keen to have back. So best check with them first. Or another shop.
If you're lucky they might give you a bit of a credit note.

aside from the algea eaters (and perhaps the rtbs) you have some nice fish in there - a good starting point for a nice community tank.
What else is your tank like - planted? gravel or sand?

EDIT: in fact, if you got rid of the platy you would have an excellent combo of fish. Not that I have anything against platies..............

should I take all 3 out, or 2 of them. i was recommended them becasue of lots of hair algaie on the plants, which is still there!!

uh not entirely true. I have one in my 50 gallon and it's been doing the most marvellous job 24/7 for the past 3 years. It's when they get larger that they get "lazy" and don't eat algae anymore.

Granted mine's only approx 3" at the mo and not aggressive or territorial towards any of my other fish (yet) it stays where it is. When the situation changes (traditionally around the 6" mark) I will make another plan. But that's not for quite some time yet ;)
