ago I got some red cherry shrimps
They was all a nice colour of red although there was some tiny little ones in bag that didn’t really have any colour
Today I’ve noticed 3 shrimp that look like the picture and the other shrimp I can find are all bright red
Is this a different type of shrimp?
Thank you

Its hard to tell, but it looks like a male to me. Males tend to be lighter and smaller than females. Is it a brown/black color? Or is it just a light red color?

hi thanks for replying I would say he is brown, there are 3 that look like this the other 2 are quite a bit smaller and more of a see through/browny colour

Here’s how my red ones look compared to these 3 browny colour ones In same tank/lighting

thank you

Ok, my best guess is one of two things. 1( The shrimp in question is just a male, or, 2(He is this color because of bad breeding. Sometimes when shrimp from the same family line breed, they will get genetic problems. That's why it is suggested to get new shrimp every year so you can add new shrimp blood to your tank. :)

I agree. It’s a male. You need to add a few new shrimp from a different group. I’d suggest ordering a few fire red cherry shrimp. I did that to bring my colors back. Good luck!
