What Kind Of Fish Do I Have? Are They The Same?

Ok this is my first time owning my own fish. My daughter got a free fish at a school then I got a similar look friend for him. I plan on getting more fish what are good tank mates for these two guys. I think they are guppies one is a baby.

Am afraid we're going to need a lot more information before we can give you any accurate advice.
 
Tank size with dimensions will be a start.
 
A picture of what you currently have will help in identification.
 
Water parameters would be good if you have a test kit, for ph, ammonia, nitrite and nitrates. Also water hardness/softness would be very usefull too, you can get the hardness/softness information from your local water board by searching online for your area.
 
And lastly, do you have a tank that has a filter, heater and light and very importantly is the tank cycled?
 
If unsure what i mean, have a read of this article, it may help in determing if you have a cycled tank or not.
