What Kind Of Filter?

Ok so I'm dead set on buying a 50 gal tank for sale in my LFS its $174 (Australian (having a job is great)) so heres the deal: if i buy it what on earth am i going to filter it with and how much is it going to cost me roughly? if you dont live in australia id like to hear what type of filter you have filtering a tank of similar size

I dont have a 50G tank unfortunatley, so cant comment further.

i would go for an external filter either a fluval 205 which does up to 200l [your tank is 189] or a 305 if you can afford it. or a tetratec ex700 does up to 250l

all of the internals such as the fluval u series or interpet pf range are just not big enough unless you use 2 internals if you dont want an external

i cant comment on the price as im from england lol

edit: teh only internal i have found that will do 200l is jbl crystal profi i200, im not sure if you have that range over there as its a german brand, but ive heard very good things about the filters as well as the entire range

Filtration often depends on what you plan on stocking the tank with. Messy fish such as larger ciclids or catfish require more filtration than an average stocked peaceful community. Some fish appreciate more water flow, other prefer less.
