Sadly, they won't get the chance to mature to dinosaurs Hated squishing them, but I believe I had no other option.

Oh well, it never ceases to amaze me what we find in our tanks!

Just found another, did not want to prolong any suffering, but took apart "his" leaf nest to take a closer look and it definitely looks more caterpillar like rather than a caddisfly.

(He was wrecking another of my plants - hope I don't find many more).

Could it be a Larval stage of the Nymphula nymphaeata? eggs are wrapped in a leaf and its common for them to be submerged, the larvae hatch out, eat a load of plant matter, thne leave the water to hatch into Moths.

To some people yes it does matter. People like to know what they are housing, is it safe? Is it poisonous, is it endangered? If like you say it doesn't matter, why feel the need to comment at all? To me thats a bit of trolling and you should leave the subject to be discussed by people who actually want to discus it.

Its not that it is a raw nerve I just do not like when people dismiss a subject as they think it doesn't matter. It was obviously important enough for the OP to post the topic and to find out the info for themselves. IMO it came across as a bit of trolling. If that was not the case then I apologise. But I did not see any constructiveness to your post.

My money is on cadisfly larvae! not harmful at all to your fish (they eat detritis/algae and this guy apparently plants), although i see that particular species likes to build its hideys from your plants they are actually a good indicator of water quality-used as a bio-indicator in many stream/lake water quality and pollution studies. Ive seen lots of different species in streams, but they all make their "shells" from pebbles and sticks. never seen one use plant material. COOL STUFF!

They look awesome, If you find any more, maybe you should keep it in a bowl of water or something, see if it "hatches".
