What is this red lesion?

I’m raising my last group of A. cacatuoides juveniles hatched on May 18. The parents were sold to me after being raised by a hobbyist. One of the juveniles has a red lesion adjacent to the left gill. Thoughts?

Is it a lesion? It looks like the gill plate has gone. Is it not a wound? Fingers crossed it's ok.

It looks like a gill plate birth defect to me. That happens, though it could be an injury when small.
