was glancing at my tetra tank, looking at the unknown that came in with a group of palmeri, that were supposed to be something else…

not a good picture as the fins are pretty red , and a lot of blue sheen in the body ( not a palmeri )

when I came upon this fish, that I don’t recall seeing before ( only fish added with in the last half year, have been individually bagged cardinals ) so no idea what this is, it has the most resemblance to a sailfin tetra, of anything I’ve added to this tank… there were a few apisto’s added 2-3 years ago??? thoughts, on either???

sorry, both pictures are already highly zoomed…

Fish number one could be a female Hyphessobrycon melanostichos. I'd start there to look for comparison photos.

Is this what you've got? If so, it is a yet-to-be described characin that is being sold as "Hyphessobrycon sp. 'Blue Devil.

@GaryE … I’ve brought this one up before, when less mature, and I still don’t think it’s mature…

I think it looks like this , in the tank, only with less turquoise, but this is a shady tank, so not all the colors may be coming out…

@Innesfan … looks similar to the 1st fish but definitely mine has red in the fins…

@Karel Zahradka … the black line is less bold, and again lacking the red in the fins

thanks for the suggestions

I think picture two is likely a female sailfin tetra…
