Ok, ill start us off.

i got an Australian Northern Trout Gudgeon for free from my LFS.

They had no idea what it was, and it was eating all their other fish so i took it lol.

I was given a pike cichlid for free at the local shop once, they open late on Tuesdays and when the owner arrived at 11am to open up there was a box on the door step. On opening the box he found 2 bags, one with the pike cichlid and the other with a small african cichlid of some kind, he didnt have the space to house a 8" long predatory fish so he phoned me knowing i kept that kind of thing and asked if i wanted it otherwise it was going to be flushed so i went down and collected it. Was a great fish that i had for years until my C.fowlerii ate it

Quite often if there is babies in the tank I'm getting fish from, I just smile at him and he puts me some babies in. x

I don't know but recently 6 Black Neons 95p each, my small pet shop in town started doing tropicals rather than just goldfish, and had a lot of nice Black neons there, one had half a fin because a Penguin Tetra in with it was lonely and nipped it, he's doing amazing and hasn't had any trouble, I think it's growing back .

The guys at my LFS always give me freebies (oh, the joys of having bodacious tatas ) In my 125g I didn't pay for either of my oscars, the jack dempsey or the catfish. If I go in for something smaller like guppies, tetras, shrimp, etc.,
I usually end up coming home with at least 2-4 extras. They also give me free small silk plants for my betta tanks. They gave me free 5g buckets for my water changes. They also let me trade in for stuff too.

that's not fair! Getting fish for free because of your tatas shouldn't count.

i didn't buy them but i was offered half a dozen giant danios for $2. sadly nothing for free yet

Since i became friends with the manager and buy a lot of fish from them he somtimes gives me free fish. Once he gave me a free lyretail molly and another time he gave me a free golden killifish.

10 cents a piece for females out of the feeder guppy bins and 50 cents for various fancy guppies with badly damaged fins. Not a real bargain long term since I have to medicate them but at least most of the lfs will give me a discount on the ripped up guys. I also will take nuisance snails for free and malayasian trumpets 10/$1. I have also managed to get free females from most since they know I like to keep a high female to male ratio in my tank.

ummm it's not that we get anything exceptionally good for free, but if we ask for say 6 rasboras, we'll get given 8. so there's a good proportion of our total fish that have been free or at a special 'duncan discount'. Duncan's our mate who works at the lfs.
