What Is It?

[hayleymcbayley]

We have a tropical fish tank and a while ago my Mum noticed something in there...we have no idea what it is. She took a picture but it's not very clear...it's black and has 4 (possibly 6 - my mum said 4 large ones and maybe 2 small) legs. Does anyone have any ideas?? Would be grateful for any help!

looks like a dragonfly larvae but an interesting black form

I have heard of dragonfly larvae being introduced into peoples tanks through live plants.

Do you have live plants?

That bug is fully submerged and walking around?

Yes, we do have live plants.
Yep, fully submerged and walking around.

If it is dragonfly larvae, is it dangerous to the other fish?

[Colin_T]

they are predators that will eat anything they can catch

[ox5477]

scoop it with the net if you can and flush it!!!!

Thanks everyone for your advice, my Mum managed to catch it!
