What is going on with this shrimp?

I spend a lot of time looking at my invertebrate tank. Several shrimp I do recognize as individuals. This one has a pale spot on its side. It is one of my bloody Mary’s. Do you have any idea what this is? Was the shrimp injured, as if maybe I didn’t see him when I was using my turkey baster to suck muck from under the gravel? Could I have chipped off a piece of his shell? It doesn’t appear to be fuzzy and nothing is wiggling in that area. It just looks like flesh. I’ve been watching this guy for the past few days (since my last little water change) and it doens’t seem to be getting any worse. It just “is”. Any thoughts? Thanks so much for your thoughts and opinions. Right now I’m more curious than worried.

It looks to me like some of the shell is missing, as well...I don't think it could happen with the turkey baster, though
