What Have I Bought ?

erm

bought a couple of new fish today because they looked weird and wonderful. i questioned the lfs and she did say they grow really big, and by big she ment the same height as her.

just cant figure out there names

look like a shark/catfish sort of

but have really big mouths and tendants/feelers hanging down from there mouths

it seems to be a chinese/japanese name to them

cant seem to get a picture as soon as iget my camera near them they just do a shoot or i take the picture and they move which makes it blur.

if no one can tell me ill attempt another picture and try get a half decent one maybe it would help

own a public aquarium do u?
no one in there right mind would go and buy a fish that grows that big without doing some serious research... what are you going to do with it when it grows too big for your tank..
after 11 posts ( hardly brand new to the forum you ask a Q like this )

their is a 'columbian shark' not sure of the scientific name that is a brackish > marine species that you quite often find.

just curious though if she said it gets the same size has her (and presuming she isnt a midget midget) then why did you get it?>

Mekong catfish? (aka Pangasianodon gigas)

If so, i think theyre one of the largest freshwater fish in the world Can get to 10ft in 5 years apparently...

Would they be allowed to sell them in the pet shop and for pretty cheap im guessing.

Why do people still go out and buy fish without researching first ? you are on a forum where there are hundreds posting and willing to help. You also have google. The internet is by far the greatest asset to any new fish keeper. There is no excuse for buying these massive fish anymore.
