I'm just wondering if anyone can advise me the best fertilization for my tank please.

14 gallon tank with gravel substrate with 6 female bettas in.

Plants are Elodea, Anubias (attached to bog wood), pygmy chain swords, twisted vallis, moss balls and a bit of java fern. Tank is fairly low light; well it's "low" light but gets LOTS of natural light. No CO2 added.

Anymore info needed and just let me know :)

Thanks

hi, a good fert to use is TPN+. it contains all the macro and micro nutrients plants need, so you don't have to add anything else. :good:

you can buy it at aquaessentials.co.uk or fluidsensoronline.com

Agree, I think TPN+ is a "no-brainer" for those in the UK who can get it. Another question you might ask the planted folks is whether they recommend some supplemental "liquid carbon" for your low-light setup such as EasyCarbo or Flourish Excel?

Thanks, I'll have a look around and see what I can get, if all else fails...e-bay :)

Good idea :).

Can anyone recommend a liquid carbon, if I need one?

There's a third source available for liquid carbon if I remember correctly, its one of the UK aquarium shop chains and/or web sites.. its not a distributed brand I don't think but I think those 3 are "it" for liquid carbon, unless there are new ones. WD

Not completely true, when I had vallis it didn't mind easycarbo. I also know others who haven't had a problem. I
personally feel it's more to do with the whole watr chemistry and excel/carbo. It's trial and error when it comes to this in my experience.

killed my 4 vallis, i know others who have had the issue. Personally, kill it or not, if you cherish vallis, they I would be prone to try something else.

So there is some truth in it, even if 50/50

But then vallis as cheap, could always replace it

Easycarbo seemed to kill my vallis too... and it says on UKAPS that easycarbo kills it! My water is quite soft, which apparently it doesn't like either. There are a few alternatives to vallis if you wanted the same shaped leaves though.

Well if it says it on ukaps we must believe it lol. I must have had ghost vallis!

Of course

It didn't really 'kill' the vallis. The conditions of my water just seemed to inhibit any growth... and it then slowly melted to death

As Ianho says take these things with a pinch of salt. Many say 'liquid CO2 killed my shrimp'. However many will say it didn't theirs.

Overdosing liquid CO2 will nearly always kill some plants. Normally things like Vallis etc. dosing as per the bottle almost never will.

Notice I say 'may' and 'almost' ;)

How densely planted is the tank?
