What Fertililzers?

Does Seachem Flourish any good or the best is TPN+ ?
If you are in the UK I'd go with TPN+. If you're in the USA then Tropica things are not (yet) available although one hears every now and then that they are trying..

Seachem makes great stuff but its expensive in some cases. There are places you can get the dry ingredients and mix you're own ferts in the US. If you want to walk in and just buy some bottles then the Flourish line is pretty attractive. You can customize it more by using the individual N,P,K,Trace and Iron bottles giving you more flexibility than the premixed plain Flourish. On the other hand, a bottle of plain Flourish may be handy when someone else is dosing while you are away or if you are in a hurry one day.

Per the other discussion, I am dying to know of more tall flat bladed plants like vals that work better in soft, acid water and don't mind liquid carbon as much as vals do.

~~waterdrop~~

liquid carbon is one of the most toxic things for aquatic life we use. and aquarists do not give it enough respect in my eyes.
if you cant make your own ferts up using dry salts then TPN+ is the next best option, however its a one dosage suits all and you cannot tailor it to match what comes out your tap or the plants you are trying to grow.

there is not really much point in wacking in more ferts if co2 is lacking. you will get no-where.

light
co2
nutrients

get those right and then you will be moving in the right directions.

killed my 4 vallis, i know others who have had the issue. Personally, kill it or not, if you cherish vallis, they I would be prone to try something else.

So there is some truth in it, even if 50/50

But then vallis as cheap, could always replace it

Yea the vallis I have isn't looking great so I think I'd take the risk. Besides for about 4-5 plants, it's 50p from my LFS...:) (sometimes more but 50p per 'bunch').

Personally I wouldn’t say my tank is “densely”planted; however seeing photos of other peoples tanks and their classifications I’d say it’s densely planted/mid-range planted.

I have 3 bunches of elodea, 2 bunches of twisted vallis, 3 anubias attached to bog wood; and 65 pygmy chain swords (although they were grown submerged so they are going through the melting phase at the moment) (chain swords are planted in bunches). Ooh moss balls and now a tiny bit of java moss lol.
I’m thinking of getting some fountain plants; they’ve thrived in my goldfish tank and they look really nice.

So if I get TPN+ and do what it says on the bottle do I need to do anything else? Would plant fertilizer tabs be needed or anything? I’ve always stuck to REALLY low maintenance plants before so this is all new to me :)
