My one glow light tetra, rather than swimming fluently it looks like he's bouncing in the water. Does anyone know if this is something I should worry about? Here's a video a took so you all could see it better. He's the little guy up in front.

(If you click on 'watch in high quality' under the video on the right hand side you'll be able to se it better)

thanks in advance!

I put up a thrwad ages ago...

Ah, my rummy nosed tetra did that for a while. I don't know why they do it but mine lived for 2 years in that state.

I have no idea either lol...he does come up to get food though when I feed them it just takes him a little longer. Sometimes he swims normal though...very weird.

Agree that doesn't look good don't know what to suggest.

Ya I have no idea...strange issues I have man lol.

ps. What happened to your Panthers!?

I take it your temperature is all ok?
I only ask because I had a fish do that yesterday when it got too cold too quick during a waterchange, warming the water back up seemed to sort him out though :)

I mean, I could start saying some of the normal stuff, like, maybe its his swim bladder but that wouldn't be because this symptom really told me that... If better suggestions don't come along I suppose you could try some mashed up cooked green pea. I'd pinch some of the inside of a pea between thumb and finger and lower my arm down in the tank and release if just above and in front of the little fellow, seeing if you can coax him to give it a try. Its the standard thing to try for gastrointestinal problems and there's a small possibility it might help.

Then there's the other standard thing often said about the fact that schooling fish like that will often be extremely stressed once their school size gets below some particular minium number. To them, its supposed to be like it would be for us if we were cardinals huddling in our red feathers surrounded by black panthers and waiting for certain death ('course sometimes we're able to fly away...)

Whoops, my analogy seems to have strayed into something I wasn't going to talk about.

Hey Schmill,

Temp is fine and hasn't changed at all....It has stayed around 78 degrees.

Thanks, I'll try the pea thing if the little guy continues to do that. He does swim up for food and everything and then back down so I have no idea. And I loved the analogy man. I was shocked the Cards beat them like that but that's what happens when you turn the ball over that many times.
