Anyone wanna share what they got in their fry tanks?

Should I have my fry tank bare bottom or substrate?

If so, what kind of substrate should I go with; sand?

This is going to be the tank where I first move the Kribensis fry into away from their parents.

Thanks!

My fry tanks I have bare it makes it easier to keep clean as trying to vacuum any gravel etc with tiny fish in is an absolute nightmare lol

When I had fry I had nothing but filter heater and floating plants. That was it no light or hood. I did daily 70% wc but when on vacation and well I lost them . :(

in my bristlenose plec fry tank i had it bare bottom and a sponge filter, easier to clean...
my ornatipinnis tank is with gravel and plants and duckweed which multiplys soooo quick with fry in tank, guess sucking up excess waste,
my angel fry were also in this tank the ornatipinnis are in as were my keyhole cichlids..

My livebearer fry tank is bare bottom with some moss balls, and the cory fry tank has sand & moss balls :)

Haha; when I had my fry tank, and, also, when I had guppy feeder fry in my smaller tanks, the bottom was either marbles (for substrate), or there were piles of marbles all over the place.... But if you had no adults in there, and wouldn't want to spend absolutely *ages* cleaning out baby fry and putting them back into the tank and whatnot, then, well.... I'd go with bare-bottom, obviously. :p Before my Bettas spawn, the tank will be bare-bottomed! ^^; All the gravel taken out, and such. :p

So, yeah; either bare-bottom, or *maybe* gravel. ^^; Sand can be a hassle to clean, and too much waste gets into marble-bottomed tanks.... :( And, of course, you can't gravel-vacuum those. :grr:

Thanks, Amberleaf!

I think I have decided to go with a bare-bottom!

Thanks again to all who have responded!

Not all of my fry tanks are bare bottom, but some are. The main thing that I do in all of them is to put some java moss in the tank. Even if there are no predators in the tank, often the case in mine, the fry seem to feel more secure with a convenient place to hide.
