Hello folks,

I am considering making a dwarf puffer tank but the only thing making me hesitate is the need to feed live food.  The LFS's nearby never have any, which is a bummer.  The closest fish store that occasionally carries them is quite a drive away.

What is the minimum required for a snail tank?  I was thinking ramshorns because one of my LFS brings them in once in a blue moon.

Thanks for any suggestions!

There are quite a few snail sellers on eBay, have a look around. My LFS gives me free snails so it might be worth asking yours for some.

What I'll be using for my snail tank will be an 11L cheap plastic tank, I'll add some sand and an air pump, that's all. It'll be by the window so it should get lots of algae and I'll also feed algae wafers.

I'm going to be using common pond snails and ramshorns, with probably a few MTS too. :)

Ahh yes, direct sunlight will be good to grow algae for them.  So you don't have a filter?  What happens to the bioload?

Dwarf puffers don't need live food I fed them frozen.

Throw some floating plants in there to deal with waste. Dont use frogbit though as ramshorns eat the roots. If you are going with an airpump might as well make it a sponge filter and keep the water super clean in case you want to use it as a tank for fish or shrimp in an emergency.

I don't have a filter, though I may buy a sponge in the future.
They have such a small bioload that I don't feel the need to do anything for it except large, weekly water changes. :)

Sigh, I recently broke down a 5 gallon because of a ramshorn infestation.  Why did I do that?!
