What Can I put in a Five Gallon Tank?

u can put nothing...water...:p maybe angelfish or tetras or guppies?

I hope angelfish was a joke  ... got to plantedtank .net... under the nano tank forum they have an awesome 'Nanofish List' of all the fish that will live happily in smaller tanks... I keep a betta in my 5 gal, but he is alone because he's REALLY into seafood -_- You should google the endlers Livebearer... I love them!

Note: Be careful with tetras... although they look small, they need lots of swimming space and are sometimes unfit for smaller tanks.

Hi,

My tank is smaller at a 3-gallon size and has two male guppies. They get a long really well. Act like best buds. In a five gallon, I'd probably just add an additional guppy.

betta and the frogs would be perfect. just have a few hidey holes (caves or other decorations with holes in them to hide in) and they should get on fine. if you can, add the betta last.

People who have suggested "one or two corys" need to remember that corys are a schooling fish and should be kept in groups of 5 or more.

A betta would be very happy in a 5 gallon. I think that is the best suggestion so far.

A tank that small would be a bit too small for most stockings, including some that I have seen in this thread. The options that I can see are a pair of small killies or maybe a small group of Heterandria formosa. Another option is the old stand by, the Betta splendens, called a fighter in the UK. For a clean up crew, you could maybe put 2 or 3 of the dwarf cories in that tank but it would start to limit what else you could keep. Another option, if you are willing to go with no females, is a few endlers. Beware that a single endler female would fill that tank in about a month or maybe less. They are nothing if not prolific.

Yo! Peoples! This is another post from 2004!!!!

This is why it happens, and maybe the admins could do something about it.

At the bottom of the page on every post, there are "Related Topics" that appear.
Just look, for this is says "What to put in a 20 gallon tank" ".....30 gallon tank" "....10 gallon tank." All related topics to the one you are currently reading. Maybe they should lock all the topics which are older than a year old, they wouldn then need to unlock a few like the one on how to Cycle your tank so that people could still ask for help. But a lot of the topics that are brought back from the dead are random post like this that should have been locked longed ago. I've seen this happen several times before, maybe they should do something that would prevent this...

...Just an idea.
