What are you doing today?

I have finally got some shrimps for my small tank - yellow cherry shrimps (Neocaridina davidi). I've been saying for weeks that I want to go to the shop in this town, firstly waiting to let the new plants establish, then wait till they're back in stock again. We were almost there when my husband pulled into the wrong lane at a junction. I said we want to go that way not this way. Oh, he replied I thought we were going to Chilton? No, I replied, Newton Aycliffe, I've been saying this place for weeks

We had to go right round the traffic island and take the correct exit but we got there. So many different shrimps - red, yellow, blue, orange, black and shrimps I'd never seen in a shop before - galaxy fishbone caridinas

Behold my mighty fishing trophy! Look upon it ye mighty and despair.

Eagerly awaiting pics - I have been thinking some yellow would look great in one of my tanks

Nice catch!!

That reminds me. I recently went on a fishing trip and caught 44 fish. A mix of large mouth bass and bluegill. It was really fun. Even got to use a new combo I got!

This hobby can get into your head. Killie keepers often consider the location a fish was caught in as central to keeping it. These fish don't travel and there can be genetic differences between members of one species a fairly short distance apart. If you take breeding seriously, you begin to develop a map in your mind, of how all these species are distributed. Why does this matter?

When I was at the adult ed graduations today, they would announce the grad's name, and where they were from. Most were towns and villages around here, but there were a lot of Nigerian, Ghanian and even Cameroonian and Congolese students. They'd announce a name and <place name> Nigeria, and I'd think, "Ooh, nice gardneri killie there". A Cameroonian was from a place I saw the airport in, and I was considering the dwarf Cichlids there. I think I was supposed to be considering their hard work and academic achievements, but the hobby has warped my head forever.

When the grads were from the small harbours south of here, I didn't consider the quality of the sardines.

Oh awesome man!!
I'd post some of my catches but they're not on the device I'm currently using loll.
That's a really nice one!
Has to be a good 5 pounds
I don't have a scale so I guess we'll never know.
I usually only catch dinks at this pond. I was shocked when I got that guy on the second cast.

All pictures represent the sizes fairly accurately except for the top and second picture (same fish). That guy looks so small in the photos. He was in the upper range of 3lbs. I didn't have a scale, but his size and the weight I could feel by carrying him was definitely there.
These are just some of my favorites from the trip I recently took.
Loved it even more when multiple people saw me cstching fish out of this large pond and told me that either they never see anyone catch anything or that its extremely hard to.
I managed to catch 44 fish in total!

Nice catches! What were you throwing?
Mix of different baits!
On some of those bottom ones I used a chatterbait (elite evo), and then on the upper ones, I used a megabass popX in the "wild gill" color.
It caught me some really nice fish!
I also used a small 3/16 oz Rapala topwater minnow in that black/white color. Idk what it is with that bait, but everywhere I've gone it's at least gotten surfaced at by smaller fish. It's one of my only baits I will always have in my tackle box. I've replaced it a bunch cause I sometimes loose it in a tree or it gets snagged on wood lol. (Speaking of which, that megabass popper, while expensive, might also become a regular in my tackle collection, it worked VERY well as a topwater walking bait)

Then I also used a dropshot rig with a missile bombshot (where there wasnt many weeds) and then a weightless Texas rigged kamikaze swimon bait that I would do a "jerkjerkjerk- pause-" action on where there were lots of weeds.
Does this guy have a bent spine? I've been seeing alot more of that on the bassfishing subreddit.
No, he just curved like that for the photo ig lol.

I want to start adding some topwater into the mix. Most of the time I try throwing a frog and I get nothing. If there is a blowup, then the hook doesnt set. I've mostly been finesse fishing lately.
