What are you cooking?

just had rotisserie chicken, oyster dressing and beets, followed up by a big bowl of butter pecan ice cream.
I LOVE beets, especially red pickled beets. I also like to save the juice for making pickled eggs. Red pickled eggs rule! ;)

Just finished my local grocery order and will place tomorrow for delivery. It is a heavy sketti order which I haven't done in a while. This will be a full 2-gallon batch. I already have 36 ounces of good meatballs so all set there. I also ordered 2 1-pound bags of pizza dough so I'm good for 2 pizzas, 4 calzone/stromboli or a combination of all. ;)

if you have a Rural King near you. (like a Tractor Supply but on steroids), try these. they are the best I've ever had and I'm pretty old. made in USA

We just buy beetroots and boil them. Some people like them sliced and pickled though. Go good on a cheese sarney and turns the bread red 😋 You buy pizza dough! 😮 I'll see if I can find you an easy recipe. 😜

we raise beets in our garden. i love them boiled too. after cooking I dry them off well and slice them. being dry allows the butter to stick to them better.
add some salt and I'm all set. they have that earthy sweetness. I haven't found a way yet to eliminate the weeds in the beet hills, they are delicate and want to come up when pulling the weeds.

But I like my dough. It is really good. It isn't packaged dough or frozen. It is made fresh in the deli. At $2.83/pound it is a lot easier than making my own. ;)
Of course appearance does not make for good taste but, going with appearance, there is nothing wrong with the dough I get. This is the last pizza I made. ;) Obviously not your normal packaged crust. ;) A pound is good for a 14-16 inch pizza.

Ahhh, leftover strog (as we say)! I may skip salad or other veg & have a true day off. I may add a few frozen sauteed mushrooms to mine. Brown rice makes it healthy ;) Rice is also a family tradition...so is it just sour cream that makes it called stroganoff to my family? lol

wanted to cook this one but A I said It would put you on the wrong side of the grass.
still the prettiest thing I've ever dug out of the flower bed.
