What are you cooking?

Bland isn’t bad but I feel more full if food has some zing to it . Maybe that’s psychological but I don’t feel as if I’ve eaten anything if it doesn’t have some flavor . I can eat the same amount of two of the same thing but feel satisfied if it tastes good and still hungry if it doesn’t .
As to some already prepped foods being bland they really have to do this at Omaha Steaks. They do one pan skillet items and I have mostly not liked due to being bland and not enough actual food to be worth the price.

Their meat is good and, in most cases, at a lower price than I can get at my local grocery.

I'm hopeful we can have grilled steak tonight. It was breezy early this afternoon. I also checked out the rusted out grill bottom. Not nearly as bad as I remembered, we're trying foil for a temporary fix. Baked potatoes, green beans with almonds & soy sauce, & of course mushrooms for me.

Jay, I'm sorry your sauce was disappointing. At least now you know to doctor the sides or maybe skip some. When my FIL gave us Omaha Steaks for many years, we didn't get "points", maybe he did lol. We got various meat, potatoes & dessert. The meats & potatoes were always good but later on the dessert changed to 1 we didn't like nearly as much. I think there are still a few styro boxes in the garage saved for fish or food transport. I made the mistake of using 1 for plants while I redid a tank over a week. It leaked! & warped my hardwood floor. Luckily when the floor eventually dried the warping went away, whew!

It's 71 degrees outside right now. Perfect grilling weather. I'm going to fire up the outdoor grill and grill up a couple of Hebrew National hot dogs. I will toast and butter the rolls and put a layer of chopped onions underneath the hot dogs and then top off with a line of mustard. I know hot dogs are not that healthy but if Joey Chestnut can eat about 70 hot dogs in 10 minutes, I don't think 2 hot dogs will hurt me.

And besides, what is better than watching a Red Sox game while eating a couple of hot dogs. ⚾🌭🌭

Interesting fact:
Joey Chestnut is a millionaire with an estimated net worth between $3.5 million and $4 million. While contest prize money is relatively modest, he earns over $500,000 a year through lucrative corporate sponsorships, media appearances, and high-profile eating specials.

My steak & mushrooms were so good I didn't have leftovers beside green beans. We had leftover stroganoff last night & I had a kind of bad tomato allergy reaction. Usually a day off between heavy tomato food is ok, maybe my new antihistamine is less effective or I'm just getting more sensitive, bah! Or maybe some wildfire smoke in our area made it worse. Not terrible, but we can smell it.

Burgers tonight, I'm going with olives, mayo, onion & lettuce.

I'm doing sirloin steak tonight with refried pinto beans that I read about on here the other day and then went searching for the recipe. Right now though I am eating bananas on toast.

I spent a little over 4 hours prepping for, cooking, baking eggplant slices, making a meat and a bechamel sauce, assembling and baking a moussaka.

Now I know why I do this once a year. I have moussaka PTSD

Thanks!
BTW did your daily flame counter disappear? I don't see them anymore.

the flame counter no longer appears in our avatar area. I only see it at the top right of the home page.

I'm thinking fried ham slices, baked potato wedges with parm cheese & garlic, & salad or some veg. We're watching baseball, a rare tv treat. Philly is ahead :)
If you like thick ham slices try doing some as a sort of crust with scalloped taters on top in a casserole with some veggies. Sort of like a ham based shepherds or cottage pie. Is REALLY good!

I do au gratin potatoes with ham bits in the middle layer. Your version sounds good but I don't have thick ham slices in the freezer ATM. Maybe next ham? Husband is a serious cheese hound.

I decided to try carrots along with the potato wedges with parm & garlic just for an easy new thing. Dinner is running late after our Philly win.
