what are these fish? And can they have a dither

I am not saying that I am right on this. But I was informed at many of fish stores that the yellow ones are females. I have been keeping the yellow ones together and I havent had any trouble with housing the yellow ones. But just as soon as I try to keep two blue ones together they are a death every time. Can you explain this then.. I know they say that you cant keep the males together.

it is a bit backward for mbuna but i can assure you that it is male kenyis that turn yellow.

Yup, but they can also stay blue to avoid aggression of dominent males.

I agree with freddyk, only the males can turn yellow but they can also stay blue. Females are always blue.

subdominant males still do change a bit.. they certainly dont have female colouring.

well I looked at the fish again, and the yellow one now looks like my other 3 Ice Blue females, so I assume that is what she is. I have another fish that I am not sure about, so illpost his pic too, in a new thread soon.
