We made our own python hose this weekend from the pinned topic in the DIY section - and it works! Yippee! Was dead easy to make too so people, don't waste your hard earned cash on buying from US - make your own!!!

The only bit that doesn't work that well is putting our own gravel vac tube on the end, think it's too big so you lose suction. Think we might get round this by fashioning a long thin tube as a vac instead of a pre-made one.

At least we can empty and re-fill without even looking at a bucket!! :good:

Awesome :good: where did you buy your bits and bobs and how much did it cost you ?
With my new 100Gallon I don't fancy the bucket method anymore

Hi Bloo

We went to B&Q and it prob all cost around £25ish, maybe less, not sure cos we bought loads of other stuff too. Couldn't believe it worked and it was simpler than we thought too!

One tip - don't be a numpty like us - we were in the plumbing section by the taps for ages scratching our heads cos we couldn't find the bits! Go straight to the gardening section where you get the hoses! LOL!

Thanks for the link as well mate! It works a treat! :good:

I was going to get one from the USA - a proper Python - but aparantly it was too big for my friend to bring back (I need the 50ft one) :( and wouldn't have fitted in her suitcase.

So guess it's a trip to B&Q then !! :good:

Go for it!

If you have any trouble with it just pm me cos we had to buy slightly different bits because of our tap - a multi-tap connecter wouldn't have fit on our tap. We almost got the wrong 'Y' connecter too - just get the really simple looking one - b&q sell another one which is a bit more flash which wouldn't have worked.

Hope it works for you too! :)

I think You can buy the python from here in the uk

But the diy method would be much cheaper if you need 50ft,

the 25ft python costs 40 pounds !

Also I dont think you can use normal garden hose for it, what hose is used ?
Plus postage you'll be pushing £50 :S or £70 for the 50ft one. I don't mind spending money on stuff but not when I know it's less than half the price in the USA :X and there is a DIY option available in the UK.

Like i said , DIy would be much cheaper,

What hose is used ? Is it those caravanning water hoses ?

we used standard 30metre garden hose - it was way too long, slightly over estimated! - I think it cost about £13-£15. You just get tap connecters and attach them. All basic bits, nothing specialist at all.

I'll post some pics of what it looks like if you want cos the links on the DIY pin that show you what the bits are don't work. Will be a few days though as it's not my camera so I don't have the USB cable to upload.

We couldn't believe how well it worked to be honest as we're no experts in DIY and stuff like this!

Not brand new hose. i think it's only when it's been sitting outside with water in it and still attached to the taps. It couldn't leak stuff cos hose pipes are used for all sorts of things - filling pools, ponds etc.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't anyway - unless anyone can say otherwise?

EDIT: check out the link in the DIY section - it's pinned - that person used standard hose*
