We Have Eggs - Thursday - Fry Out Of Eggs!

So.....only one week ago I put a glass jar in my "thin tank" to give my bristley's a bit of a "cave" shaped thing.

I wasn't sure if they would spawn in something so visible to the outside world see thread here:

Well, lo and behold.....less than a week later....on the saturday morning we woke up to see this:

Well done mum............and what a good dad........sitting there fanning the eggs

I am hoping that I will get some good photographs of their development.

I just couldn't believe how quickly they have spawned in this glass-cave.

The see through cave was an excellent idea, it will be great to see the eggs develop.

I think that the jam jar idea is brilliant. It will be so interesting to see the fry developing. Keep the pics updated as they grow.

I would never have thought that would work in a million years.

I may just have to try it in my community tank and see if any plecs are interested.

I was lucky with this particular shape of jar.........it has just about the right size opening, it is by the bubble-updraught so pulls fresh water past the jar all the time.

I'll keep up with the pics.

See - I'm glad I didn't say what i was thinking on the other thread...

BN's are notoriously un-picky about where they spawn...

If you can - they and get pics of the eggs as they are hatching

Haha.....they surprised me with their speedy-spawning...it was as if they were waiting for me to provide something suitable..

And yes...I will try to get pics as they are hatching #

Oh yes........although only if you look very carefully can you see the eggs beginning to develop....eggs are around 4 days old.

And a close-up:
