We Have Eggs - Thursday - Fry Out Of Eggs!

Brilliant! makes be want to try it...

Hmmm wonder how zebs would feel about the idea :D
(I know they would hate it - changing the direction of outpur of filters messes their spawning up... let a lone a glass cave :D)

Once I have free-swimming fry I am going to lift the jar out and move it straight over to my fry grow-out tank.....

....don't want to give the Angel and the Syno a free meal....

Good to see them growing:

what about a divider in the existing tank to save disturbing anything for a while, or simply too impractical?

I would like to think the Male BN would scare off the Angel, but from what i've heard of other peeps, Syno's have a habit of just barging in on breeding sites and gobbling everything up regardless of angry parents!

That's a great photo Ava :good: So sweet

The eggs look like a bunch of currants

I could try with the divider......but it is a bit impractical on this tank (tried it before when i had convicts breeding in this tank).

The plan was always to "lift when ready"......taking them and the jar into the fry tank. When I last had BN fry I did this with the pot they were in and it all went well (both father and kids went fine).

Sooo, late last night..........just a pile of eggs with eyeballs...............today....my wife happened to catch them just after they were hatching.

The clear eggshell just sort of falls away.....the "yolk" stays with the fry which swims and attaches itself to a nearby wall (the glass jar wall).

Pics herewith: :good:

Excellent, they look the dogs danglies!!!!

Stupid question time......

How do you know the sex of your BN, or any Plec for that matter?

I would love to breed, but not sure if i have males of females!!!

EDIT: - Just looked at your previous thread, am i right in saying the males have the bristles and the femals don't? I hope so if thats the case i've manged to get a male and female from my LFS!!!!
