Water Problems

Thats alot of fish... I hope you get it sorted out mate. You can grab a mini master test kit for £14.99 and that will test your ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and PH. I wouls suggest getting one asap because i have a feeling your levels will be high.

CentricOregon, take a 200ml sample of your tap water to your local fish store, they will test the water for you for free and will tell you the results, this way you will know exactly what could be happening, how bad it is, and we will be able to better advise how to get on top of the situaion so there is a good outcome for all.
Remember if the fish are swimming around in ammonia it is killing them and badly damaging their organs, having fish swimming in ammonia is almost the same as you sucking on hte exhast of a car.

Just to put something like this into perspective. I have a 6ft x 2ft x 2ft tank (680 litres) and I have 34 fish in there. You have 34 fish that will get to or exceed fish size that I've got in a tank of 180 litres. 50 inches of fish should be your Absoulte Limit, and as had been said, to mix and match like you have done is a disaster waiting to happen. Still, that said, you are doing something about it now, so follow the advice on this thread, and all will be good.

damn i've just been down to the fish shop aswell to hand in some fish and i forgot. the guy that would have done it was on his break anyway so a doubt i would have been able to get it done there and then. i'm gonna do a full clean of the tank just now but i'm not gonna wash the sponges so they can keep the bacteria. i'll take the mushy bits of but won't rinse them properly, and i'll do it in aquarium water.i took my kissing pink down today :( shame because he didn't wanna go, he jamp out of the bucket twice before he actually stayed in lol. i've posted ads for the rusty cichlids and possibly have somebody to buy the 3 yellow labs so alls good :D
