Voo's Journal

When i take all the riccia out the tank looks quite different, quite empty on the right :) It does though, as you say, let a lot of light through on the right side, which may be why it does look so different and brighter.

I might try getting someone to hold a spotlight over the top and angle it underneath the floating plants, see if that will help.

What camara are you using Voo??

As sam says, put more light over the top, OR If you have a flash gun, use that, and use a tripod or alike for a better image.
Allthough, your tank may seem bright in your eyes, your camara will see allot of dark and light

Also, try putting black card around the tank ,to frame it almost. This will help the camara acheive the correct exposure, well try!
When avarage Joe is shooting their tank, it tends to be in a dark room with this very bright box in the middle. The camara will find it hard to decide which to expose for, the dark or the light.

Try abit of back lighting, or shinning a lamp to the spot that looks darkest.

Dont be afraid to be creative when photographing your tank, if it get you an image that portrais the mood your tank thats no bad thing.

Graeme.
