thoughts on aquatic pot covers... and what if you don't want a pot???

... and this is what I used...

OK... pot #2... with a tri color variegated Hoya a few rooted cuttings, and a different moss rehydrated...

the Hoya vines have fast become some of my favorite for aquarium use, and if these mosses continue to grow, I really can't imagine anything better...

so, for all practical purposes , this tank is just starting... it was cycled with Tilapia previously, but it was a bare tank... I have a really nice, large resin drift wood pot, that I'll be putting an anubias in, as soon as I can get one here, without it freezing... the pot has been battling me, as it must have trapped air pockets, and floats like a boat, I siliconed a pair of small limestone slabs to the bottom, but over a week or so, it pulled away from them... so, stainless hardware to the rescue... the rocks, pot, and anubias will be in the center of the tank, and will be most of the landscape, so it will come out easily in one piece, when future netting is required... you can see the 2 corner surface pots in this picture, and can see it's the bottom tank, only 1.5 inches off the floor, so there is a pump inside to assist with water changes... the white ceramic media on the bottom, was spilled out, when the pot broke free from the rock... one of the super red pleco's in the top tank, day's hi...

I'm really liking these 2 pots... both have been surviving the furnace outage, and the polar freeze... I think the coldest any of my plants have been exposed to, has been 46 degrees... but I can't wait, until these grow out... I bought like 8 of these pans, so I could do this several more times..., and I have 2 more sheets of moss that I already bought, so pretty much guarantee at least 2 more pots like this, just need to decide where to put them... I have a Hoya with heart shaped leaves coming next, as soon as the temps warm up from this below zero stuff

well, I'm at it again... I bought like an 8 pack of those steam table pans ( the 2 pots in this thread ) I'm going to pull another out of the cupboard... I have a heart leaved Hoya coming this week, Valentine's day ( it's warmer than normal, I hope it arrives ok ) this one is going into my south American tetra tank, on the end that isn't fully hedged in by other plants, it'll go into a back corner, so it'll be supported by the back, and one side of the tank, and one clip on pot, that has pothos vine, and I'll add a bridge from front to back, with a strip of 1 inch wide stainless steel... this will end up getting the bulk of it's light from a 48 inch LED, that overhangs past a 36 inch tank that corners the south American tank...

@WhistlingBadger ... was correct on some mosses will work, where others won't the 1st pot I did, with the black margin hoya in it, looks like it's struggling, as it's not as green as when I 1st put it on the pot, why the 2nd pot looks lush, and vibrant green... so a 3rd moss out of my 4 pack will go onto this pot... and I'll keep an eye on the 1st pot, and may need to try the 4th most from the original pack on that one...

I think that 1st pot is wetter, it doesn't look terrible, just not as green and lush as the moss is on the 2nd pot.. maybe the 1st one has one media thickness less media in the pot, so if I end up changing out that moss, I'll add another layer of media, I think it needs to be moist, but not wet... I'll do the 3rd pot this same way...

BTW... the hatchets in this south American tank are still doing well, and I've not found a leaper yet, but putting this new pot, in this tank will shore up the biggest space, that they could jump out, if they wanted..
