Very Listless Betta... Advice?

He's been in the tank for about 4 hours now... he's still just lying mostly at the bottom... doing nothing, swimming really fast to the top for air, then sinks back down. Occasionally moving from one corner of the tank to another to get onto a leaf, but always really quickly, and then just staying still for the next thirty minutes to an hour. How long will it take? I know it doesn't happen immidiately, but there doesn't seem to be any progress...

you have just described what my betta was like when he had white spot  he used to hide alot in decor, plants what ever would hide him and then only bothered to move for air, he would not eat at times either.
is yours showing any signs or infection/fungal growth/fin rot..... anything at all?

like Lucasluke said he said it sounds like ammonia poisoning, there could possibly something else wrong with him check for any signs of anything abnormal to this body, torn fins, pale white tips on the fins, white spots on his body, cotton like look stuff growing on him

I'm not seeing anything. He seems a tad more active and less frantic this morning, but still not normal. Been checking all levels every three to four hours, all at zero except for the high gh, kh, and pH, (still at 8.4). But yeah, I've been staring at him all over and I can't see anything externally.

Looked some more... looks almost as though there's no "webbing" (not sure of exact term) on his pectoral fins? Then again... it could just be that it's so clear that I'm not seeing it... but so far that's the only possible thing I'm seeing...
