Urgent Help Needed With Jambo

yes it was, my son switched it on when i was out, thought the plug had been removed by accident, tho it was out intentionally
but he says that jambo was on the floor before the heater was plugged in. and as theres no crack on the heater, then i praying its deffo not that but the temp. whcih is slowely rising now with hot water

just curious unless its already been posted but why was the heater removed/swiched off ?

as it was the same brand that malfuntioned and boiled my angels etc about 2-3 weks ago, so i decided to bump the heating up and do away with the heaters, tho jambos tank is the one thats in a biggish open space unlike the other tanks, they are al in cosy small rooms/places

maybe a stupid mistke now tho

thought id try and tempt him with some prawns... he ate it!! have given him some peas too, tho i cant get them to stay near his mouth so maybe he wont get those..but hopefully this means there isnt tooooo much wrong with him

he may just be sulking due to the unstable temperature?

most species will adapt to any temperature (within reason) as long as it is constant, but when it becomes unstable, rising and falling by a few degrees on a very regular basis it can cause some stress to the fish.

Eating is a very good sign so i'm sure he'll be ok,

yep sounds good that hes eating :good:
get temp stable and hopefully that will sort it,, id imagine as its ******* cold up there if your house heating is off at night temp may drop a wee bit in the tank,
as your up near the polar bears and all :shifty:

Please watch your language!

Hows he doing now Shelagh? Eating is a good sign though.

Nelly you bad boy

right thats the new heater installed, so have to wait for the tank to stabalize now..hes still laying on his side at the back of the tank with his nose on the heater, not looking happy at all :(

nelly.. it snowed up here last night, tho only a little bit and the heating was on all night, it wouldnt surprsie me i got up in the morning to see a polar bear in the garden ;)

Hopefully he will perk up soon, does he still have that slimy mark on his body? Any chance you can get a pic of him?

Also, whats your nitrIte reading?

Oh today just gets better, just dropped the flaming box for testing kit on the floor and smashed my last 2 test tubes....so no idea what nitrites are minx
ill get a sample up to the lfs in the morn as soon as it opens.. why didnt i test that earlier...oh god knows. but if there was a problem, i would have diluted it with the wc i did earlier (( please dont let that be it)) and if it is the prob, lets hope the wc was enough till the morn :(

about the naughty words.. nelly only said what i happen to be thinkin ;)

ill let u know if any change

I missed this thread until now, but it seems to be a happy ending. I'm glad he's ok Shelagh.

I reckon from what's been said that its because you didn't have a heater on and the temp would be going up and down like a yoyo (mostly down though with the Scottish weather  ). Hopefully the new heater will keep him happy from now on.

It might be worth doing that nitrite test though just to be sure.

BTT :good:
