Upstairs Tap Water Is It The Same

Well i was wondering if upstairs tap water is the same as your downstairs tap water as my bath water smells like chlorine a lot but my downstairs water doesn't have that smell also this might sound silly but my upstairs sink water tastes different to my downstairs water

Just wanna know this because it would be easier to do my water changes from the upstairs sink instead

It should be the same, as the water is from the same source.

Maybe because you dont drink upstairs water just wash in it ect they giver a poorer quality ?

This would be the only reason you would see any difference in water from upstairs VS down. Must be different material used for the upstairs plumbing. OR the water up stairs SIT longer in the pipes because you don't use it as much as say the kitchen sink.

So it could be a little different.

It's always possible that your upstairs water comes from a tank in the attic. When we moved a couple of decades ago, someone told us to check if our upstairs water came from a tank or directly from the mains. Apparently, at the time, the only requirement was for the kitchen tap to be mains fed, it didn't matter where the others were fed from. And a lot of builders were using tank fed water upstairs. What the current regulations are, I couldn't say.
We were told not to drink from a cold tap unless it is mains fed. Having found a load of dead wasps in our attic cold water tank this spring, I can see why! Luckily, it only feeds our hot water tank.

if you have a traditional boiler your water upstairs may be differnt as it can be contaminated by dead birds etc... but unlikely

oh ye we have a boiler up stairs in a cupboard a big copper one and downstairs is from the mains ###!

The guy earlier is correct. It is highly likely that your upstairs water (although originally coming from the mains) will be sitting in your water tank in the loft. Thats why you should never drink from your bath taps etc. Could have dead flies and general dirt and grime in it that the downstairs water won't have.

Don't drink it!! Although the fish probably won't mind for water change purposes.

We don't have this problem in the USA. We don't have a different tank for our bath water. It's all the same I can use the water that comes out of my tub tap and drink it.

well my parents tell me not to drink the upstairs water lol and it tastes different to downstairs water
