Upgrading Alphie From 3g To 5g?

125l is fine for 2 Fancy Goldfish.

I do recommend keeping a hospital/quarantine tank. The 10l tank came into use today, Oscar and Spikey had a fisht, Spikey was badly hurt, so hes having some time alone in a quiet, warm place to recover.
Yeah will see what I can do. Think tomorrow i'll move alphie to the 5G!

125 will just about fit one adult fancy goldfish actually. They grow to the size of a cricket ball/big orange , I've seen them myself. You would need 55 gals (200 litres approx ) for a pair so one will need re homing eventually.

I personally reckon that 2 fancys will be ok in 125l. I would say it's the bare minimum, but considering their eventual size and relatively inactive lifestyle (key work 'relatively' Ie. similar to bettas) it should be fine.

However...
It will need double filtration
Big water changes weekly (40%+)
Weekly tests, you need to check how quickly your nitrates are increasing inbetween water changes. If they are rising anything above 40ppm imbetween water changes then I do agree one will need re-homing. (though as they prefer to be in at least I pair then I would recommend both be re-homed and then you set up a community tank or similar.)

I'm sorry but i wont rehome any of the 2 fish, the reason im getting the tank is to house them 2 goldfish im not going tropical with it. Its for my goldfish, ive been told be various people 125l will house them just fine, even if other people disagree thats there opinion. Compared to my friend who houses 2 common goldfish in a 15l tank i think im doing pretty well getting a 125l i would get a 200l tank but i dont have the space. Tbh i think ive done well seen as they started in a 21l, then to an 80l and soon to a 125l. I will do weekly testing on the water and yes im going to have double filteration and make sure everything is all good for the fish.
I'm willing to put in the work. Now i'd like to get back to the subject i didnt post this topic for a debate on tank size for goldfish, im doing what i can afford and have the room for.
I have enough tropical fish, i want a coldwater tank and my fish will be alright in this. Eventually when i move out of my parents house when im old enough i may consider a bigger tank but it will do them fine for a few years.

the only reason people keep saying its to small is because it is 2g is way to small. im suprised this one can turn round in it no matter how small its fins are. you can get second hand tanks for a few £.

We all can go round and round on this debate. My betta in the 2-gallon is still little. He's about 1/2 the size of my other one and moves around comfortably.

2G is small, but if your betta is happy and comfortable then whats the problem? :D Hes happy right? You cant start worrying about tank size when he grows alot but in a tank that size just keep up with water changes and it should be fine! :)

Think ill do the tank tomorrow, i dont have much to put in it but i have a few very good ideas for the set-up which involve bogwood, live plants etc ;) Will post pics when its set up! He loves the space in his 3G so i cant imagine how he'll be in a 5g! :D

I'm sure Alphie will love it! :D I'm still figuring out how I'm gonna deck out my new tank, Dad's collecting it today :D goodluck with moving Alphie, hope it all goes to plan!
