Unsinkable!

I gathered some really interesting pieces of wood from the bog garden in the local park and have had them in a tank full of water for 5 weeks now but still they remain unsinkable,has anyone got any ideas on how to waterlog wood quicker? I'm baffled because these pieces should have been waterlogged already as I took them from a bog gardens dried out stream,any ideas please people?!

You could weigh them down with a stone in the tank or you could silicone a piece of slate to the bottom of the wood and bury the slate into your substrate.

I agree with micko, you should just weight them down or attach to slate. Depending on the type and size of the wood, it could take quite some time.

Thanks guys,i might just do that,and the slate would look pretty discreet once covered,i dont think these peices are going to ever sink so weighing down it is then,thanks again for your replies.Kind regards-Rebaka

Another trick is to attach a couple of suckers(screwed or electrical ties) in a discreet part and stick them to the glass.

i have actually found some really nice peices that will not need tieing down,i moght be able to just wedge them into the tank,but thanks for reply,appreciated!!

most advice i've ever seen was to remove bark.

You should really take the bark off as it will just rot eventually.

My trick was to take an interesting and large rock and just pin the wood down with it (the rock right of center):

Yeah, it's called "wait and see." Much of it was done by my decorator, Common Plec.

No sorry needed! It's an interesting bit of mess I've got in there now. Seriously, anything under a pound in weight was moved around by the pleco. He just loved to create caves with his tail, and in the process moved everything around. Very frustrating! But now that it has a new home, I can decorate the way I like!

U may have to drill a few very small holes on the underside of the wood to all water to saturated the inner... I've had wood take up to 3 mnths to sink..I've hard of linger disks for real hardwood too
