Two Tanks One Exterior Filter System

i have heard using a inverted U tube between two equal level tanks will work.

i see trouble keeping the tube primed if the pump should go off and i am not there, will one tank overfill when power is restored?

are there tubes made just for this purpose?

does the length and depth of the U tube an issue?

any help is appricated

If you have a nice well filled u-tube, the water levels in both tanks will be equal unless you have fairly high flows. A loss of power does not impact the siphon effect that is keeping the levels equal. Using an air stone in either tank will threaten your ability to keep the tank levels the same by allowing some air to get into your tube.
