Two headed fish !!!! (with pic)

I would of kept it and not killed it because it was "different''. I guess anything thats born deformed now should be killed... I didn't mean that but did you just think it was suffering because it swam funny? What if it wasn't? I would of kept it. But whatever, it was your judgement and I'm sure you can read the little fishes mind.

I watched it for ages and it could not swim properly or the right way up, so there is no way it could swim up to food and eat it, so basically it would have starved to death, it has nothing to do with me being able to read the fishes mind, I just did the most humane thing so it ddin`t suffer starving to death.

Mark.

I can completely understand why you felt it had to be killed if it wasn't coping. However, this has started a real debate here!!! SO thanks for letting us know about it!
I have to say....if a human was born with two heads....what would we do? As in society?! I know it's a bizarre thing to say but lets just ponder it for a minute!
R.I.P. Little fish......thank you for bringing us something interesting to our fish loving worlds!!
If it wasn't coping then I have to admit then yes I probably would have put it out of it's misery...however, IF (and yes I realise this wasn't the case this time) it had been able to build up it's strength with TLC and hand feeding with tweezers then I would have tried to let it survive....I WOULD NOT HAVE GIVEN IT TO ANY SCIENTISTS! If we are concerned about the type of life this little thing would have had...what would it have been put through if given to scientists to experiment on and test to their hearts content?!?
This will have me thinking for a while!
Thanks again Tetramad!

P.S. Did you name it?!

If it was a human it would be kept alive (here in England anyway) because for some reason the people with power and all the other Loony lefty dogooders, and tree huggers would say it desevers the chance of living a normal life! But hang on a minute its not freaking normal being born with your brother or sister sharing half your organs, or limbs etc.
In this day and age doctors have ability to see if the abnormalties are survirable or if a operation could help give them half chance. If not then they should be allowed to die with dignaty, before becoming a freckshow attraction.

Hello xxsarahxx welcome to this forum and thanks for your nice comments. No I didn`t think to give it a name, how about Egor, like Doctor Frankensteins assistant?;-)

Mark.

I work with children in hospital and although you are right to an extent what with the new 3D scanners for pre-natal care not all abnormalities can be picked up, although I should think a foetus with 2 heads would be!
As a minor tree-hugger myself I do feel that there is a need for everything that is conceived in one way or another to have a chance if the parent(s) are in the correct state to care for it. I'm just against the testing and experimentation I guess! I also don't think it would be nice for anything to be cut iff from society for fear of what they might face!
However.....I have drifted off a bit!
Please do excuse my strange thoughts at times! (I just do what the little voices in my head tell me to do!!)

Tetramad - Egor sounds perfect actually. Bless him. Did you feed him to the other fish or ???? (please spare any gruesome details!!) I was wondering what the other fish thought of him? Especially if you tried to fed him to them...did they eat him??
I too are tetra mad by the way! It's nice to meet another!
xx

Dangerous Dan, everywere they let siamese twins live, well everywere that farming takes place and food isnt absurdly scarce. Siamese twins do go on to live good lives if there heads are seporate, its the ones that are attached at the top of the skull that have problems, a human doesnt have to be agile or graceful to survive the first few months and build up strength, as mamals we need a mother and not much else.

I really fail to see your point....
Read what i wrote, i didnt say they shouldnt be allowed to live, if they can go on to lead a relatively normal lifes then thats great, by why keep them alive so they can have no active mind or limbs but do have a pulse.....

Since when is this a question of braindeadness or lack of limbs? The fish simply shares part of itself, very few siamese twins with two heads have any other deformities at all.

I think this is the kind of debate where nobody will win, and very little good will come of it. It's not the type of subject that people are likely to change their opinions on, and trying boldly to defend your own opinion just ends in others being upset and offended.

It was a cool little fishy. I would of kept it for a week, and if there was any doubt in my mind after that week that it would not live a normal life (which I doubt it would of), culled it and pickled it. 'cause I'm creepy like that.

Try some Tequila and drink it's health, with or without. They do that in Mexico with worms don't they? Poor little fishy(s), hope it's small and daft enough not to know or feel much. Perhaps it ought to have a double barrelled surname, one for each head. Fascinating though.

How are the rest of the fry doing?
Thanks again for posting this on here....it's provoked some 'interesting' discussions!! xxxx
