Yea...i forgot to put in...

the good deal is a 72 gallon bowfront that includes the stand, light, glass lid, and the plumbing (it's already drilled and plumbed) for $200.

I think that sounds like it may be a good deal

Thats a great deal... If you can fit it in your buget I'd do it!!! What kind of corals do you think you'll want to do?

Pretty ones...LOL! I'm not worrying to much about those until I get used to the different water parameters. I'll do fowlr first for a little while and then add corals slowly at a later date, at which point I'll upgrade the lighting. :good:

Darn it   It sold. I was afraid that might happen. It appeared to be such a good deal
I'll keep my eye peeled for other deals :shifty:

Patience

Keep an eye out towards the end/beginning of the month when people tend to move ;)

I'm sniffing down another one!! It's a 46 gallon bow front w/stand, canister filter, a secondary bio wheel filter (I'd prob take off.), aquarium systems protein skimmer, it has a sail fin in it ???? , and a Picasso trigger. The main rock is Fiji and I like the look of fiji. Basically everything they have is coming w/it and all they want is $300. It's about 2 years old. I heard mom tell her son to just get rid of it and I think that's the min price they'll take?

Supposedly the boy was supposed to maintain it and has become lazy and mom told me that she's not doing it. They are emailing me pics soon! I'm excited to see how it is. I know the Picasso's not going to have enough room. I called the lfs and they said they'd buy him from me. I want inverts anyway, and I know he'll eat them

We'll see...wish me luck :good:

What ever you do, DO NOT BUY A PERFECTO SEDONA CABINET!!!!!!! I have one of these. I thought that it was the greatest thing. Don't get me wrong, it looks awesome and very classy, however, the piece of junk is falling apart after 3 months, literaly. The drawers are completely falling apart and I have had to rig both doors twice already with glue. I have had it out with Big Al's twice over the quality of the product and got nowhere. I paid $300 for this stack of crap. So, two things that you can take from this message: Don't buy a Perfecto Sedona cabinet and don't buy anything from Big Al's online. They suck! :<

Wow, sorry you have to go through that

If I don't get one that comes with a stand, I'll make my own for that one too! I'm building a new one for my 125 gallon tank.

I changed my mind about the bowfront. I have FINALLY decided what I'm going to do. Get a 75 gallon tank. I won't change my mind from this! I even posted a wanted on craigs list and here on the usa/canada buy sell swap! I'll also keep checking the classifieds EVERYWHERE!!

I emailed a guy that has a 75 gallon full tank setup. The only thing, he lives in Lincoln, NE and I don't want to move sw fish as it'd take 4 hours to get home, plus the time to set it up

I emailed him to ask if he considered selling his stock to his lfs or local reefers. Haven't heard back yet. i told him how I'm really looking for a setup but am uncomfortable moving the fish that far. We'll see about that too.

Meanwhile I've checked out 3 books from the library.
First is Reef Fishs Vol. 1 by Scott W. Micheal.--skimmed through parts of that and took it back...had a lot of great info, but was mostly about predatory fish...eels, frogfish and such. I'd love to have something like that but I want a reef tank w/inverts and clownfish. I don't want them to get eaten

The books I have now are:
The Simple Guide to Mini Reef Aquariums by Jefferey Kurtz
New Marine Aquarium Step by Setp setup and Stocking Guide by Micheal S. Paletta-I've read a few pages into the beginning on this one and it sounds good so far :good:

I wanted to read them before buying them. If I think it'll be really good to have them on hand then I'll go out and buy them :)

Sounds good, here are some equipment choices:
http://www.aquacave.com/aquamedic-dual-250...llast-1198.html

You'll want to use a nice reflector, the lumenbright and lumenarc are two of the best on the market, these are meant to be high off the tank (canopy use).

Those are all skimmer options. They are around the same league, some are better than the others. Needle-wheel and becket injector are the most popular types of skimmers, spray induction is gaining in ranks (although some people report bad stuff about them). Tunze is the only one there i think that is venturi, and tunze skimmers are great, but price wise, i dunno its your choice. The bubble king up there is probably the best that i showed you up there (yet its at 750 dollars) a deltec would also be good, within the same league as the bubble king so ive heard, price is similar to the bubble king.

In tank pumps I now only recommend tunze because the hydor wavemakers are way over priced compared to the tunze ones. But you dont have to have a wavemaker, if you never plan on a wavemaker, hydor and modded maxies are the way to go to save money, but tunze are better than the two. Eco-tech would be another choice, these motors are external so it cuts down like 80% of the heat that would regularly go in the tank with a full internal pump. But they are expensive.

Id recommend visi-therm heaters, or ebo-jager

For return pumps from the sump, internal the best would be an eheim, mag drive is cheaper in price and quality, but still isnt very very bad quality though. I dont know what external pump would be good if you go that route though.

I always recommend an auto-top off and i dont recommend anything else except the tunze osmolator, it works great in my tank, and in EVERYONE elses tank that ive heard of. A product such as an auto-top off is not something that i would ever recommend to skimp on since if this fails, its not a matter of buying a new one like a failed skimmer or something, this may cause a flood of freshwater in the tank drastically lowering the SG until your left with a brackish tank filled with dead fish. So nothing but the tunze IMO.

I have the first skimmer that is listed here. The ASM G series. I would highly recomend this skimmer. :good: I have had a little trouble with the microbubbles that it can make but I have found that it is quickly fixed by adjusting the outflow pipe. This is a great skimmer. Very durable and easy to use. It's just a simple design and very effective.

Hope this helps. I am sure that the others are very good also. Just thought I would add my experience. :p

i use the tunze nano, its great, but a bit expensive, i could get a recirculating in sump skimmer for around the same price that could probably pull loads more, but i didnt have a sump.

Anyway, i switched to euro-reef to save some cash but still get a quality product.

Does anyone have an idea what a good price is for a used eheim filter? 1/2 price of retail? 1/4 price of retail?

A gentleman has 2 eheim 2026's for sale. I found a site where they sell for about $200 new.( )

Is it out of the question to have the person fill the tank w/water to check for leaks before I buy it? I don't want to buy someone else's problem

canister filters are pointless and a waste of money if your going to do a hybrid berlin method (live rock and sand), full berlin (very high flow, lots of rock, no sand, heavy skimming) or deep sand bed/plenum (rock, lots of sand like 6"+ thick).

Im guessing your doing the hybrid berlin method so the canister filter would be a waste of money. Just get a 30-40 dollar phosphate reactor and a small pump.
