im tempted with a group of altum angels, the true altums not the fakers......

i know they are pretty hard to come by and not cheap but just wondered if anypone keeps them and how they get on with them?

also if anyone finds any for sale give me a shout please :)

is keeping them really difficult or is it just a myth like the discus one......?

I believe two tank amin had a setup for them but they never made it. :( There was also someone near me selling them, will have a look to see if i can find the link. :good:

I have heard that they are quite hard to keep but never kept them - just know people compare them to Panda Uaru (or visa versa) that they sometimes die of no obvious reason and can be quite timid. Also need very very tall tanks.

Are you thinking for the Ray tank?

yes mate just fancied something different in the middle-top part of the tank that wont out compete the rays for food too much.

ive always thought of doing an angel tank but only really like the wild looking types tbh. my local maidenhead had some altums in a while back that did very well and they had them in their display tank for a while but then were sold on...

never kept them, I have paid and kept what i thought were altums but they werent but having seen a display tank with adult altums yrs ago Id love to and they would look ace with rays :good:

No problem mate. Unsure if they are true as i don't really know alot about them, but he certainly sounds as if he does. :/ Fingers crossed for you pal.

from the pics they do look the real deal. the mouth and body shape gives it away ;)

Yep.. I used have them.. But they never made it to full size.. Or behaved like they supposed to be.. Died in year or so.. Nothing wrong with the tank. Discus had thrived in there. Inculuding pair of wild ones.. I think true Altums only thrive in pure RO + carefully added minerals water only.
