Hello there,

Discovered this forum shortly after i had bought my fluval tank set-up 90L , I inherited a lonley plec (long story).

I bought some test kits etc which most of the readings are showing ok ?

0-Amonia
0.3 - Nitrite
10 mg/l- Nitrate
ph 8.0

The problem im having is the nitrite seems to change between 0.3 to 1.0, from reading the guide etc i guess it should be 0, but i just cant seem to get it down, been running the tank with 25% water changes for roughly 2-3 weeks.

Anyone maybe give me some more advice on this ? maybe im doing somthing wrong.

ALso if ive missed any crucial info you may need to know just shout and ill fill in the blanks

Also i bought some waterlife bacteria formula but im not sure if this is just a gimmic to be honest.

Thanks in advance

I think all you're missing is patience ;)

It's expected that you'll need to keep doing what you're doing for a few more weeks yet, just keep those water changes going to keep the nitrite below .25 and you'll get there.

its 25% per day and yes the plec is still in there :shifty:

ok thanks for replys, i guess im just im-patient right now

If you are using a liquid type test kit, it is telling you that 25% is not enough. Try increasing the water changes to 50% daily. It is extreme but so is your nitrite reading.
